Dutch police arrest 26-year-old after three stabbings in Rotterdam

Two men were wounded in apparently random stabbings in Rotterdam; police arrested a 26-year-old believed to be behind all three attacks.

Dutch police arrested a 26-year-old man on Saturday after two stabbing incidents and a third attempted stabbing across separate locations in Rotterdam. The first two attacks took place at approximately 9:30am (7:30am GMT), one on a residential street in the Spangen district — whose residents mostly belong to the working class — and the second in Marconiplein square, an important transport interchange.

Rotterdam police said via X that two men were wounded randomly; one was taken to hospital, while the other received treatment at the scene in an ambulance. Around half an hour later, police received a report of an attempted stabbing on the Brug van Seringen pedestrian bridge near Rotterdam The Hague Airport in the northwest of the city.

Police indicated that the same suspect is believed to be behind the incidents and is thought to have travelled by car. The 26-year-old was arrested, and police are continuing their investigation.

No further details have been released regarding the victims' conditions or a possible motive. The investigation remains ongoing.

We demand the attacker be found and the worker receive justice.

Mechanismgiudizializzazione

By focusing on the victim's suffering and the search for the culprit, the report creates a clear moral divide, making punishment appear the only reasonable response.

Omission

It leaves out the social conditions that lead a person to live on the street, and any institutional responsibility for homelessness.

By silently omitting the Brazilian case, the frame naturalizes the idea that geographic proximity determines relevance.

Omission

It omits the entire episode of the caretaker, leaving no trace of the victim or the attack.
