On Monday 10 August, the first pensioners whose national identity documents end in zero will find their accounts credited with the adjusted minimum pension plus the extraordinary bonus that has not changed since March 2024.
The increase of 1.89% reflects the inflation rate for June published by the national statistics institute, INDEC, and applies to all benefits administered by the social security agency ANSES. For those receiving the minimum pension, the basic monthly payment rises to 419,775.92 pesos net, and the government adds a flat 70,000-peso bonus, bringing the total guaranteed amount to 489,775.92 pesos. The bonus is paid to all minimum pensioners, holders of the Universal Pension for the Elderly (PUAM), recipients of non-contributory pensions, and mothers of seven or more children. Beneficiaries whose pensions exceed the minimum but fall below 489,775.92 pesos receive a proportional top-up to reach that ceiling.
The bonus has been frozen at 70,000 pesos since March 2024, according to the decree published in the Official Gazette. The government justified the measure as necessary to maintain the purchasing power of pensioners' incomes. The mobility formula, which since July 2024 has been tied solely to the consumer price index with a two-month lag, means that the size of the monthly increase shrinks when inflation slows. The maximum pension will rise to 2,824,694.50 pesos gross, but those at the top of the scale do not receive the bonus.
Other benefits administered by ANSES also reflect the August adjustment. The Asignación Universal por Hijo (AUH) rises to a gross value of 150,848 pesos per child, of which 80 percent is paid monthly (120,678.40 pesos) and the remaining 20 percent is withheld for an annual settlement upon presentation of health and school attendance records. The Tarjeta Alimentar, paid on the same date, provides between 72,250 and 149,425 pesos depending on family size. The Acompañamiento Social program, a separate benefit for former Potenciar Trabajo recipients, continues to pay 78,000 pesos monthly and has been extended until April 2028 under a resolution from the Ministry of Capital Human.
The payment calendar for minimum pensioners runs from 10 to 24 August, grouped by the last digit of the identity document, with a pause on the public holiday of 17 August. For those receiving above the minimum, payments begin on 25 August. Non-contributory pension beneficiaries are paid between 10 and 14 August. The funds are deposited into the account where the beneficiary normally receives their pension, and the detailed breakdown of the payment can be consulted through the Mi ANSES online platform.

The Argentine state celebrates its commitment to pensioners by delivering a timely increase and bonus.
Uses positive and grateful language to frame the measure as a government victory, emphasizing the inflation-linked adjustment as a technical success.
Does not mention that the bonus is frozen since March or that the increase is lower than previous months due to low inflation, and does not report criticism of the pension policy.
Japan looks elsewhere, focusing on its own corporate bonuses, ignoring the Argentine social policy.
The non-coverage itself is a framing: the event is deemed unworthy of international attention.
The entire story is omitted, with no information on ANSES or Argentine pension policy.
