iPhone 18 Pro launch weeks away as Apple readies iPhone 17 price rise
Reports point to a September iPhone 18 Pro debut while Apple is said to raise iPhone 17 prices and cut production by up to 30 percent.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro series within weeks, with reports pointing to a launch window of 7-9 September. The company is also expected to introduce its first-ever foldable iPhone at the same event, according to rumour reports.
Ahead of the new models, Apple is reported to be raising prices on the current iPhone 17 line and cutting production by 15 to 30 percent, according to a technology leaker cited by Gizmochina. The adjustment is tied to a memory component shortage linked to rising demand from AI data centres, which has already pushed Apple to increase prices on MacBooks, iPads and Apple TV 4K in late June. Analysts expect the iPhone 18 Pro to start at $1,399 or more, against the $1,099 launch price of the iPhone 17 Pro.
The iPhone 18 Pro is reported to feature a 2nm A20 Pro chip, a variable aperture main camera, a larger battery, a smaller Dynamic Island and a third-generation in-house C2 modem for faster 5G speeds.
Apple is expected to launch only the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and a new Ultra variant this autumn, with the regular iPhone 18 reportedly delayed until spring 2027. The reported iPhone 17 price increase could be announced as soon as Monday 10 August.

Apple is raising prices and cutting production as a necessary response to market pressures.
By citing a leaker and giving precise percentages, the report turns a rumor into a near-certainty.
It omits the chip shortage as the root cause and the parallel price increase by Google.
The new Pixel and iPhone models bring exciting upgrades; higher prices are a fair trade-off for better specs.
By listing specs and features, the coverage shifts attention from cost to value.
It leaves out the chip shortage and production cuts, focusing only on product launches.
