Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, the youngest daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court to remove “Pitt” from her legal name, requesting to be known as Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. The filing, submitted shortly after her 18th birthday, lists the reason for the change as “personal,” according to court documents obtained by People magazine. A hearing on the matter is scheduled for 2 November 2026.

Vivienne is the fourth of the former couple’s six children to initiate a legal name change. Her sister Shiloh was the first to have a petition granted, in 2024, and now goes by Shiloh Jolie. Two other siblings, Zahara and Maddox, have pending requests; court records show hearings set for 28 September and 14 September, respectively. Vivienne had already been credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the 2024 Broadway production of The Outsiders, which she co-produced with her mother, signalling a de facto use of the shortened name before the formal legal step.

The sequence of filings unfolds against the backdrop of a divorce finalised in late 2024, eight years after Jolie filed for separation following an incident on a private flight that prompted an FBI investigation, though no charges were brought. A source close to Pitt, quoted by People, described the repeated name changes as “sad to see” and accused Jolie of “successful parental alienation.” Jolie has not publicly addressed the specific petitions, but has previously stated that she supports her children in determining their own identities.

Under California law, adult children may petition for a name change independently, and a judge will rule if no written opposition is received. With Shiloh’s change already approved and Zahara and Maddox awaiting rulings, the legal docket in Los Angeles now holds three active petitions from the Jolie-Pitt children, all seeking to carry only their mother’s surname.
