Separately, in the eastern state of Odisha, sixteen people were arrested after a mob attacked a young woman from Delhi and her male colleague, mistaking them for child kidnappers. The victims, both fellowship workers in their early twenties, were chased, the woman partially stripped, and both were beaten before police rescued them, according to the Rayagada superintendent of police. In Rajasthan, in the north-west, four people were arrested for allegedly trafficking a 14-year-old girl and gang-raping her after selling her for 32,000 rupees under the pretext of marriage; the minor was rescued from a town in Churu district, and a search for a fifth suspect continues.

In Nigeria’s Anambra State, the state assembly has demanded the speedy prosecution of a 30-year-old woman accused of brutalising a 10-year-old boy. The child was reportedly locked in toilets, beaten overnight, and burned with a heated gas burner; three suspects, including the woman and her husband, have been arrested, and the victim is receiving medical care under state protection. In a separate operation in the same state, police rescued a heavily pregnant 15-year-old girl during a raid targeting drug activity near a school in Awka North. One man was arrested on suspicion of child exploitation and sexual abuse, and investigators believe multiple adult males abused the teenager in several locations, offering her small sums of money.

In Brazil, a 24-year-old woman in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, reported being subjected to physical and psychological violence and constant surveillance by her 21-year-old partner. She was forbidden from owning a mobile phone or leaving the house alone; she managed to alert police with a phone lent by her mother-in-law, leading to the man’s arrest on domestic violence charges. In Russia’s Kaliningrad region, the interior ministry reported that a 51-year-old man was detained after striking a friend three times on the head with a glass mug during an argument over a woman, causing injuries classified as light harm; he faces up to two years in prison.
