He added that he had spoken with former Manchester City teammate Manuel Akanji about playing for Inter, and that Akanji gave him the information he needed. “I am very happy to be back on the same team with him; he is one of the best defenders I have ever played with,” Stones said.
Stones could make his Inter debut when they begin their Scudetto defence against Monza at the San Siro on August 22.
