The footage, reportedly recorded by a hidden camera in Janjgir-Champa district, has not been authenticated by state police, according to local authorities. The incident is one of several teacher misconduct cases drawing attention across continents this week, with separate criminal proceedings unfolding in the United States and Mexico.

In New Jersey, a former middle school teacher was indicted on new charges including manufacturing child sexual abuse material, prosecutors announced on Wednesday. The 36-year-old, who taught social studies until 2023, faces a 12-count indictment that also alleges sexual assault of a minor and a pattern of official misconduct. Investigators say they recovered thousands of text messages, though the defence argues the exchanges lack context. In Kentucky, a 29-year-old teacher was arrested on Tuesday and charged with rape, using electronic means to solicit a minor, and tampering with evidence, law enforcement officials said. The school district confirmed she has been dismissed.

In the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca, a magistrate freed a secondary school teacher accused of pederasty against two 13-year-old students, revoking a previous order of preventive detention. The judge ruled that the one-month period for the defence was insufficient. Family members and a local advocacy group say more than ten adolescents may have been affected and have denounced irregularities in the handling of the case, including an allegation that a justice centre official demanded 47,000 pesos for services. The state prosecutor’s office had judicialised the investigation in December 2025.

Separately, the cabinet in India’s Bihar state approved new transfer rules for over 550,000 government school teachers, head teachers, and principals. The policy, which will use a portal-based system, allows women teachers to be transferred within the same block on humanitarian grounds and male teachers to nearby blocks, excluding their home block. The cabinet also greenlit five private universities and a judicial inquiry into a fatal police encounter. The teacher transfer rules are a procedural measure, officials said, aimed at improving teacher-student ratios.

Police in Chhattisgarh have not confirmed the video’s authenticity, and the teacher in the Bole Senior High School case in Ghana, referenced in regional reports, is reportedly evading arrest. Investigations remain active in all jurisdictions, with no final judicial determinations reached.
