The German transfer-market platform Transfermarkt has updated the market values of 99 players who stood out during the 2026 World Cup, which concluded on 19 July when Spain beat Argentina 1-0 in the final. For the first time, the highest recorded valuation has reached €220m. According to data released on 23 July, Spain's Lamine Yamal and Norway's Erling Haaland now share that figure after each received a €20m increase from their previous valuations. The previous record of €180m had been held by Lionel Messi in 2018, Transfermarkt's historical data show.

France forward Kylian Mbappé, who won the tournament's Golden Boot, received a €20m rise to place third at €200m. Bayern Munich's Michael Olise moved from 13th to fourth with a €20m increase to €170m, after leading the tournament in assists. England's Jude Bellingham rose by €30m to €160m, putting him fifth. Barcelona's Pedri is sixth at €150m. Three Paris Saint-Germain players – João Neves, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Vitinha – are each valued at €140m, as is Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior. The top 10 is completed by those four players at €140m in a tie, according to the published list.

Separately, five Moroccan players from the Atlas Lions saw significant market-value increases after their World Cup run. Ayyoub Bouaddi, an 18-year-old Lille midfielder, rose by €30m to €80m, making him the most valuable under-21 player in the world, according to Transfermarkt and reports that his club demands €100m to sell. Ismaila Sari (sic) increased by €15m to €55m and has completed a move to Bayern Munich. Azzedine Ounahi rose by €8m to €18m and is expected to leave Girona, while Naïl El Aynaoui and Chadi Riad rose by €7m and €5m respectively, to €30m and €20m.

Robert Lewandowski, who played alongside Yamal at Barcelona, commented on the teenager's tournament performance. In an interview with ESPN, he said: "Honestly, not yet. We haven't seen his best performance in this tournament. In my opinion, the best version of Lamine Yamal was not last season, but two seasons ago." He noted that Yamal arrived at the World Cup after an eight-week layoff due to a hamstring injury and that Spain's coaching staff managed his minutes early in the competition. Yamal played 616 minutes across eight matches, scored one goal and recorded the most dribbles in the tournament. Lewandowski added that "the Spain team helped Lamine, and Lamine helped the team. Their cooperation worked perfectly."
